Structural Floor: I-Joists

Our standard recommendation for a structural floor are engineered I-joists. These can be used on the ground, intermediate floors and roof joists.

The I-joist is a structurally engineered timber joist combining high-grade softwood top and bottom flanges with an Oriented Strand Board panel web.

The I-joists can be configured in whole range of specifications to provide the optimum solution for an engineered structural floor, this is decided on in conjunction with your architect at the design stage.

The I-Joists are pre-engineered in a controlled factory environment and delivered to site ready for assembly.

On site the I-joists are installed to the required floor joist layout either on to the wall plate within a solid timber rim board or in to joist hangers. The floor is then sheeted with 22mm weather protected chipboard flooring.

Holes for services can be created in the web of I-Joists in accordance with the I-joist Technical Manual for this product.

Please note that Services, Plasterboard and Floor Insulation are not included within the SIP Building System.
