Project Description

Designed by John Pardey Architects in association with Prof. Sir Colin Stansfield Smith, Frome Valley CE VA First School, is a new build school on a green field site.

Located in Crossways, Dorset, the single storey structure was constructed from a steel portal frame with Build It Green SIP panels used as infill internal and external walls.

The design of the school centres round six main elements, expressed as simple cedar clad boxes with sweeping curved roofs to the classrooms and arranged around the central courtyard within a rendered wall enclosure. This modern suburban school has also incorporated a striking bell tower into its design to integrate the traditional learning environment with a contemporary overall look and layout.
