Project Description
Located directly on the harbour front in Rye, East Sussex, this three storey house is featured in the 2010 issue of the Royal Institute of British Architects directory.
This three storey house was designed by RDP Chartered Architects. The ground floor was constructed from masonry with Build It Green SIP panels forming both the first and second floor external walls. Internal walls were made from timber studwork with the split level roof comprising of SIP panels finished with a standing seam metal roof.
This projects green credentials were further enhanced by a wood chip boiler producing its heating, supplemented by solar panels providing additional underfloor heating. A rainwater recycling system was also installed, with a catchment tank located under the ground floor.
Externally the house is mostly a rendered finish with contrasting sweet chestnut rainscreen timber cladding. The main living accommodation is at first floor level to take advantage of spectacular panoramic views across Rye Harbour.
